August 20 miss saigonfound the original sound track in the library last week.
never watched the musical, but was very touched by the songs.
it is a sad story, so sad that it made me cry even just by listening to the songs.
her name is kim.
it is no fairy tale.
no happy ever after.
August 10 about romancea friend was telling me about her last birthday she spent with the ex-boyfriend who she broke up with two weeks ago.
the guy drove her to east coast after dinner and he built a tent on the beach. they blew candles and ate the cake inside the tent. the guy even brought a mini fan in the tent for better air circulation.
" it sounds romantic," she commented, " but it is not the kind of romance that i wanted."
after they broke up, the gal asked the guy why he planned such a way to celebrate birthday for her.
the answer was not so romantic, because the guy said " it is standard."
i was sort of surprised that the guy used the word "standard" and was wondering what are the elements included in the so-called standard romance. a bouquet of rose? beach, sea? a diamond ring? a french restaurant? or a credit card? it seems that men and women have completely different definition about romance. or rather, men are the ones who always copy the romance from the novels and movies and women are then ones who always dream of romance like in novels and movies but when it finally happens, they realise those romance are only for appreciation purpose.
i guess in the long run women focus more on details. maybe a phone call, maybe just a chupa chups.
